The Large Hadron Collider will be switched on next month. It is the most expensive scientific project hitherto undertaken, $6 billion. It is a 27km long circular tunnel filled with superconducting magnets. Scientists there want to recreate conditions in the universe in the first billionth of a second after the Big Bang. Some are concerned it will create a black hole. Not just a mini one. But a huge one that could suck in Geneva and the rest of Earth. I guess we'll find out pretty soon.
